Ridenour Ranch is a 98-acre ranch located in the small town of Thurmond, not far from Elkin. The ranch is part of the North Carolina Agritourism Network, a network of farms and ranches that invite visitors to learn how and where crops and animals are raised.
The ranch raises alpacas, llamas, goats, sheep, ponies, chickens, hogs and beef cattle. Visits are by appointment only and allow guests to interact with animals and purchase items made with fiber sheared from the animals. The ranch also sells beef and pork that's been raised on the farm.
Several events take place throughout the year, including Shearing Day and Picking in the Pumpkin Patch, a fall festival that features pumpkins, hayrides and other activities.
A two-bedroom rental cabin on the property provides a rural escape.
