The Martha Bassett Show - Gretchen Peters & Sweet Megg

For two decades, Gretchen Peters has been one of Nashville's most beloved and respected artists. Inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame in October 2014 by singer-songwriter Rodney Crowell, who called her "both a songwriter and a poet (who) sings as beautifully as she writes." Peters has accumulated accolades as a songwriter for artists as diverse as Etta James, Bonnie Raitt, The Neville Brothers, Patty Loveless, George Strait, Bryan Adams and Faith Hill. Her song “Independence Day,” recorded by Martina McBride, won CMA Song of the Year in 1995. She has been nominated for two Grammys, a Golden Globe and numerous other awards.

Sweet Megg (Meaghan Farrell) is a New York City-bred vocalist who performs a range of material steeped in the American traditions of jazz and blues. She splits her time between Nashville and Brooklyn where she performs early jazz, blues, Western swing, classic country and her original Americana.

The Martha Bassett Show is modeled on old-time radio shows with a hint of the modern. It draws on influences from far and wide, but maintains the distinct feel and flair of North Carolina's Piedmont region. Host Martha Bassett has been making music in NC and beyond for more than 20 years.
