Shelton Vineyards in Dobson celebrates budbreak and the start of a new vintage with a full slate of events at the vineyard. The sprawling estate in the heart of the Yadkin Valley is the ideal place to sip wine, listen to music and relax with friends.
On Saturday, April 21, the British Car Gathering assembles the Southeast’s largest display of vintage automobiles. Guests wander the pathways at the vineyard and admire more than 200 cars on display. Lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets are welcome. Special winery tours and reserve wine tastings are offered throughout the day.
The seventh annual Spring Fling takes place on Saturday, May 5. This year’s event includes a food truck festival with a variety of mobile eateries serving creative cuisine. Local artisans and vintage vendors will have handmade and one-of-a-kind items for sale. Other activities include live music and wine tastings.
Shelton kicks off its Sunset Concert Series on Saturday, May 19, with The Will Jones Band playing country and folk tunes. These evening concerts take place outdoors, where the vineyards create a beautiful backdrop. Lawn chairs and dancing shoes are recommended. Season passes for all five summer concerts are available, and each pass includes five free tours and tastings.
Corvettes pull into Shelton Vineyards on Saturday, May 26, for the eighth annual Corvette Auto Show. Guests may bring picnics or order from the Harvest Grill Express and enjoy lunch on the grounds. In recognition of Memorial Day weekend, veterans will receive free tours and tastings with presentation of military ID Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
Beach music fans break out their shagging shoes on Saturday, June 16, when the Sunset Concert Series features The Embers. This favorite regional band specializes in feel-good music that makes you want to get up and dance.

Find the Perfect Blend at 6th Annual Wine Symposium in Dobson
Marla Carroll , a winemaker at Franciscan Estate in the Napa Valley, will lead a presentation focused on “The Art of Blending.” Mark Hoffmann , North Carolina State University assistant professor and small fruits specialist with North Carolina Cooperative Extension, will share his expertise in grape production with a presentation titled “East Meets West.” Michael Jones , Scott Laboratories fermentation specialist, will discuss “Technical Blending,” based on more than 35 years of winemaking experience both domestically and abroad.
