Phatt City New Year's Eve Party
Elkin—Ring in the New Year with beach and R&B dance music from Phatt City, a fourth-generation band started in the 1970s. Doors open at 9 p.m. at The Liberty in downtown Elkin. Hors d'oeuvres are included along with a cash bar. JOLO New Year's Eve
Pilot Mountain—Ring in the New Year with a champagne toast at midnight at End Posts restaurant at Jolo Winery and Vineyards. There will be lots of food (five courses) paired with international wines. Table reservations are for either 5:30 p.m., 7:30 p.m., or 9:30 p.m. After eating, join the band for dancing and more wine. www.jolovineyards.com
Live Music at The Living Room
Pilot Mountain—The Living Room Coffeehouse and Winebar in downtown Pilot Mountain hosts a New Year Eve's party with live music by Johnny Dearmin starting at 9 p.m.
Old North State Winery
Mount Airy–Share a New Year's kiss at midnight during the fifth annual New Year's Eve bash at the Old North State Winery in downtown Mountary, a fundraiser for Mount Airy Museum of Regional History. Tickets are $25 per person, and music starts at 9 p.m. www.northcarolinamuseum.org
Live Music at the Elk's Lodge
Mount Airy—Live it up at Mount Airy's Elk Lodge with live music by The Fenders and a midnight champagne toast. Everyone who preregisters by Dec. 30 will be entered into a cash drawing. Find the Perfect Blend at 6th Annual Wine Symposium in Dobson
Marla Carroll , a winemaker at Franciscan Estate in the Napa Valley, will lead a presentation focused on “The Art of Blending.” Mark Hoffmann , North Carolina State University assistant professor and small fruits specialist with North Carolina Cooperative Extension, will share his expertise in grape production with a presentation titled “East Meets West.” Michael Jones , Scott Laboratories fermentation specialist, will discuss “Technical Blending,” based on more than 35 years of winemaking experience both domestically and abroad.
