The Martha Bassett Show - Brigid Kaelin & Others
Event
Multi-instrumentalist Brigid Kaelin has been a guest on NPR's "A Prairie Home Companion" and the BBC. She has traveled the world for her music, art, writing and storytelling. She’s played accordion, piano, musical saw and sung with Elvis Costello on multiple continents. She tours Europe at least once a year, yet remains a staple in Louisville, Kentucky, where she has received several Best Singer/Songwriter awards. Her latest single, "Kentucky With You," is featured on the new Kentucky Proud advertising campaign, and she's thrilled to have written a new song for her home state.
Additional artists for the evening include The Honey Dewdrops. With several albums and 14 years of playing shows on the road, the duo continues to expand its experimental folk sound of electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin and clawhammer banjo with tight vocal harmonies. John Bare & Don Dixon open the evening. Bare, a photographer, songwriter and former journalist, joined forces with Dixon, a songwriter and producer, in 2019 for the album, "Lassie James Songbook Vol. I," a collection of 12 original songs inspired by his novel.
The Martha Bassett Show is modeled on old-time radio shows with a hint of the modern. It draws on influences from far and wide, but maintains the distinct feel and flair of North Carolina's Piedmont region. Host Martha Bassett has been making music in NC and beyond for more than 20 years.
Tickets are $23-$24. Click here to purchase.
