Meet Thelma Lou from The Andy Griffith Show
Event
Fans of The Andy Griffith Show get a chance to meet one of Mayberry's most beloved characters as Betty Lynn, the actress who played Thelma Lou, makes appearances the third Friday of every month at the museum.
Lynn moved from Hollywood to Mount Airy in 2007 after falling in love with Andy Griffith's hometown while attending several Mayberry Days festivals.
Fans wanted more opportunities to interact with her than just during Mayberry Days, so the Surry Arts Council hosts her once a month at the museum to meet and greet folks, and sign autographs. Lynn has a stack of 8"x10" glossy photos from the show and sets up a table in front of the Betty Lynn Exhibit, which displays artifacts from her lengthy career in television and movies.
The museum admission price is $8 for adults and $6 for children 12 and under. The cost to meet Betty and receive an autograph is $10 (cash only). That cost includes an 8”x10” photo of Betty, or guests may bring a personal item to be autographed in lieu of the photo.
