Following a successful August kickoff celebration of Surry County's 250th Anniversary, the fun continues with the annual Rediscover Rockford event in historic Rockford.
The village, located on the Yadkin River, was once the bustling seat of a much larger Surry County. In its heyday in the 1800s, Rockford was a center of commerce and trade. Today, the entire Village of Rockford is on the National Register of Historic Places. Rediscover Rockford will highlight the area's history, while also showcasing the activities and businesses that keep Rockford alive today.
Rediscover Rockford includes the following activities:
- Musicians at Rockford Park
- Food trucks at Rockford Park
- Heritage crafts and vendors
- Guest speakers at the Rockford Methodist Church
- Wine tasting at the 1830 Mark York Tavern
- A bus tour of the Rockford area
- Sweet Paws Home Goods & Perlie Chic Boutique in the 1850 Davenport Gallery
- Rockford Visitors Center and History Museum in the 1900 Post Office
- Surry County sonker at Rockford General Store
