Saturday Evening Concert: Amythyst Kiah & Shay Martin Lovette
Event
Just across the Virginia line along the Blue Ridge Parkway, Blue Ridge Music Center welcomes visitors for its outdoor summer concert series. Enjoy the cool air and mountain backdrop as music fills the night.
Born in Chattanooga and based in Johnson City, Tennessee, Amythyst Kiah matches her commanding stage presence with raw, powerful vocals — a deeply moving, hypnotic sound that echoes a restless past. Accompanied interchangeably with banjo, acoustic guitar, or a full band, Kiah's eclectic influences span decades, finding inspiration in old time, alternative rock, folk, country and blues.
Shay Martin Lovette is a singer-songwriter originating in the foothills of Appalachia in North Carolina. He has placed in nationally recognized songwriting competitions, and he and his band won first place in the 2019 Merlefest Band Contest.
Tickets are $20 for adults; children 12 and younger admitted free. No advance tickets sold. Lawn chairs welcome. In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, concertgoers are encouraged to maintain six feet of distance between groups and wear a mask in high-traffic areas. Hand-sanitizing stations are located near the admission gate.

30The Elkin Big Band "Singin' and Swingin'"
Oct 30, 2025 7:30 p.m.
Andy Griffith Playhouse, 218 Rockford Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030Founded in 1982, The Elkin Big Band is an authentic 20-piece big band - thirteen horns, a full rhythm section and vocalists. A rarity in today's world, we make the kind of music heard on stage at The Apollo, The Lumina, The Cotton Club, and Carnegie Hall. We take up a lot of space acoustically. Our broad repertoire includes many of the greatest charts in the history of jazz from the 1920s through the present day. We play Irving Berlin to Herbie Hancock, Leonard Bernstein to Miles Davis, Duke Ellington to Stevie Wonder, George Gershwin to Quincy Jones; our catalog represents a deep dive into the genre and everything we play is danceable. Our band adds what many people have called a “glamour factor” to any occasion. Simply said, it is not something that one sees or hears every day. If you are searching for a spectacular musical experience for your event, we would be more than pleased to provide you with an evening that you and your guests will never forget. -
