Light Up Night

Every year, the Yadkin Valley foothills town of Elkin celebrates the start of the holiday season by lighting up Main Street the first Friday in December.

The first sign of Christmas is the arrival of Santa’s Mailbox at the Rock Facade Park. Downtown merchants line their storefront windows with the warm glow of twinkle lights. And the music of the season is heard all around town.

Beginning at 5 p.m., the Foothills Arts Center hosts the Historic Downtown Elkin tree lighting ceremony and visits with Santa Claus. There will also be pop-up wine tastings at the Foothills Arts Center and at Yadkin Valley Quilts. The popular Merry Makers Market at the arts center is open from 5-7 p.m. that Friday, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

Live music is on tap at Angry Troll Brewing, Southern on Main and The Wisdom Table.

Local merchants will have special offerings that night and throughout the weekend.
