The Martha Bassett Show - Heather Pierson, Jeff Black & Emily Stewart

Heather Pierson is a pianist, singer/songwriter, song leader and performer whose inspiring live performances and growing catalog of releases delve into Americana, blues, New Orleans jazz, vocal chants, instrumental piano and folk. Best known for her ease at the piano and her bell-tone vocals, her songs and musicianship embody joy, honesty, playfulness and a desire to share from the heart.

Boston's WUMB listeners voted Jeff Black as one of the top 100 most important folk artists of the last 25 years. Black's songs have earned Grammy recognition, radio chart-topping stats and numerous BMI awards. Although flying below the radar as a performer himself, he has been recognized by NPR as a musical pioneer in the digital age.

Greensboro, North Carolina, artist Emily Stewart sings original tunes rooted in the folk, country and blues traditions of the deep South.

The Martha Bassett Show is modeled on old-time radio shows with a hint of the modern. It draws on influences from far and wide, but maintains the distinct feel and flair of North Carolina's Piedmont region. Host Martha Bassett has been making music in NC and beyond for more than 20 years.
