Music at the Market: The Country Boys
Event
Good food, agriculture and bluegrass pickin' are staples in Surry County. This summer and fall, these three regional hallmarks come together with the Music at the Market concert series on Friday evenings at Dobson Farmers Market.
The Country Boys have played in most of the regional fiddler’s conventions, and the group has won the coveted first place in the Galax Fiddlers Convention competition several times. The band also placed second runner-up in the old Union Grove Fiddlers Convention. The band specializes in fiddle tunes and its repertoire is heavily influenced by Kenny Baker and Lester Flatt. More recent influences come from the Country Gentlemen.
Food trucks for the evening are 13 Bones (barbecue) and Station 1978 Firehouse Peanuts.
Food trucks begin serving at 6 p.m., and bluegrass pickin' starts at 7 p.m. Admission is free. Lawn chairs encouraged.
