Living Rhythms

Living Rhythms workshops broaden understanding of our increasingly interdependent world. These powerful programs immerse participants in the music of West Africa. Participants learn rhythms and songs that represent the traditions of several African ethnic groups. Each participant will have an authentic, imported drum. Strong emphasis is placed on the traditional West African values of respect, community and teamwork.

Three hour-long classes are offered on each event date at 1 p.m., 2 p.m. and 3 p.m. Classes are hosted by the Surry Arts Council.

Advance registration is required by calling 336-786-7998 or emailing [email protected]. Class sizes will be limited, and COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed. Masks are required.
