Mayberry Days in Andy Griffith's Hometown

Enjoy a celebration of all things Mayberry in Andy Griffith's hometown of Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Mayberry Days is a collection of events, activities and performances taking place throughout town from Sept. 19-25. Everything is geared toward fans of The Andy Griffith Show who long for the days when life was simple and the sheriff didn't carry a gun.

The schedule includes appearances by actors from The Andy Griffith Show, guided tours of the Andy Griffith Playhouse, The Emmett golf tournament, nightly live music at Blackmon Amphitheatre, a checkers tournament, Mr. Tucker's Apple Peeling Contest, The Andy Griffith Show trivia contests, Colonel Tim's Talent Time and the world famous Mayberry Days Parade on Main Street in Mount Airy.

A special event this year will be a session with the co-authors of the just-released autobiography of actress Betty Lynn, who played Thelma Lou on “The Andy Griffith Show” and spent the last 14-plus years of her life in Mount Airy. It will be a tribute to Betty’s life and a chance for fans to learn more about the book, “Becoming Thelma Lou – My Journey to Hollywood, Mayberry and Beyond.”

Rodney Dillard, one of the original Darling Boys from The Andy Griffith Show, returns to Mayberry Days in 2022 with his band for another great bluegrass concert, filled with songs performed on the show and original Dillards hits. Karen Knotts, daughter of Don Knotts (Barney Fife) also makes regular appearances.
