Since 1972, the Blue Grass & Old-Time Fiddlers Convention has honored Surry County’s rich musical legacy, drawing musicians and fans from near and far to celebrate the roots of old-time and bluegrass music. Now in its 54th year, the convention continues to be a highlight of the summer, filled with music, movement, and community spirit.

Ground Steak is enjoyed every day in Surry County. But on the second Saturday in June, it is the main course in downtown Dobson, with live music, vendors, kids' activities, and plenty of tasty sandwiches.

The Dobson Tourism Development Authority invites you to attend the 4th Annual Rock the Block at Dobson Square Park, 110 S. Crutchfield Street, Dobson, NC 27017 on September 12th, 2026, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM. Food Trucks and Beer, Wine, and Spirits Garden will be on site and ready to serve beginning at 5:00PM. The Yadkin Valley Pumpkin Festival is held in Historic Downtown Elkin on the 4th Saturday in September from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. The Main Street of Elkin will be filled with live music, and vendors of every description featuring everything from antiques, jump houses, and funnel cakes to functional pottery, pumpkin painting, wood furnishings, wine racks, BBQ, baked goods, sand art, pumpkin butter, polish sausages, handcrafted gifts and so much more.

Main and through Downtown Mount Airy.
