Every small town needs a coffee shop with a talented barista, selection of homemade pastries and welcoming atmosphere. Elkin has two: 132 E. Market Street and 1829 N. Bridge Street. Both Dirty Joe’s locations are down-home, unfussy places with strong coffee and conversation.

Order your energy vessel of choice — drip coffee, cappuccino, espresso, latte, frappe. Pair it with a bagel, muffin, or piece of lemon, chocolate or poppy seed loaf cake. Fanciful murals and coffee bags used as wall hangers contribute to the local-coffee-house aesthetic.
