Five foodie treats await visitors to Surry County in the Yadkin Valley region of North Carolina. From savory to sweet, these are special treats.

A perk of visiting Yadkin Valley wine country is staying in the vineyards. Several wineries along the Surry County Wine Trail offer lodging on property. Whether you’re looking for a romantic hideaway for two or a larger option for a group, there’s a spot for you.

The Four Rivers Outdoor Adventure Map – available both in print and online – highlights paddling, cycling, fishing and hiking options in a place that is quite geographically diverse. Surry County is home to the iconic Pilot Mountain, four rivers, rolling foothills, higher elevation mountains and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

The restored building now grabs attention on Elkin’s West Main Street with an art deco façade that makes use of the theater’s original blue exterior panels.

“When we went to Germany and Italy, we thought we’d learn some neat tricks and find something we could do different, but it turns out they make wine exactly the same way we do,” Pat says, laughing.

The entire trail spans 1,175 miles from Clingmans Dome in the Great Smokies to Jockey’s Ridge on the Outer Banks.

A new vertical sign harkens back to the theater’s art deco beginnings and pairs well with the original curved, blue panels that were refurbished and reinstalled on the brick exterior.
